Start a tableware set with fewer, useful pieces

A first kitchen cupboard does not need to be filled in one purchase. Enough everyday pieces for your household, plus a few shared-serving items, are often easier to manage than plates saved for rare occasions.

Plan around a real meal: what does each person need, and what goes in the centre? Then consider regular guests, drying space and shelf height.

After living with the set, you will know which pieces deserve a companion. Adding them later makes the collection more purposeful and keeps it connected to the original choices.
